Jay P. Diaz sets an institutional historical record as first Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC) of Ramon Magsaysay Technological University (RMTU) employed by the University Director for Admission and Registration Services (UARS) as for the compliance to the accrediting agency.
“Underman ang OSA, kaya nirevive ni Ma’am Gutierez kasi at last, after more than 100 years, mayro’n ng registered guidance counselor ang university.” Prof Cecilia A. Santiago, Director for Admission and Registration stated.
Diaz is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts Major in Philosophy in 2000, and Bachelor of laws in 2009 at the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City.
Also, he completed his Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling last 2014 in University of the Assumption, City of San Fernando Pampanga. He passed the Registered Guidance Counselor’s board examination last August 5-7, 2014.
Diaz consistently views his job encouraging. He wants to establish guidance program to improve services offered by the University.
“Nandito ako para magtrabaho. Isa lang ang nasa isip ko ngayon and that is to work. It’s more of responding and helping talaga,”he said.
To provide realizations to each Ramonians and to help them perceive the important role of guidance counselor in the University; to conduct an interview to fresh enrollees on career development aspect of psychology are among his agenda.
“Dati kasi pag pumunta sa guidance office ang alam ng maga estudyante ay may kasalanan nang ginawa. Gusto nating baguhin yun. Basta ang importante ay maimprove natin ang psychological health and development ng isang estudyante,” Diaz stated.
More so, Diaz shared the pleasure of his duty and find comfort from it, as well as to build trust in every student to enable them to know who and what they are whenever they step out of the university, creating and upholding the image they own.
Diaz’s terms starts May 4.
